Good chowder. Comfortable rooms. Strict harpoon policy.

Welcome to The Try Pots, Nantucket's most memorable fictional boarding house, courtesy of Herman Melville's Moby-Dick.

In Chapter 15, Chowder, Ishmael and Queequeg arrive at the inn run by the Hussey family. The clam chowder is excellent, the cod chowder equally so, and Mrs. Hussey has one particularly firm rule: no harpoons in the bedrooms.

Apparently, there had been an incident.

Inspired by this wonderfully specific moment in literary history, our Try Pots T-shirt reimagines the inn's house rules as a nineteenth-century New England lodging notice., A harpoon illustration, traditional letterpress typography and a single ink-blue print give it the appearance of a souvenir from an establishment that exists only between the pages of a book.

For Moby-Dick readers, classic literature enthusiasts, Nantucket admirers and anyone who appreciates a hotel policy with a rather alarming backstory.

The chowder comes highly recommended. Please leave your harpoon downstairs.

Our suppliers provide the measurements. There might be a variation of up to 2 inches (5 cm) in the product measurements.

A useful tip is to compare these measurements with those of a product you have at home.

A Length

Begin at the collar's edge at the top of the t-shirt (the highest shoulder point) and extend the tape to the shirt's bottom.

B Width

Start the tape at the seam just below one sleeve and stretch it across to the seam below the other sleeve.
